Jessika was terrified, her cool calcultive mind was bursting at the seams. Carmelo got her shaken with his threat to expose her as his accomplice. She rushed back to Sebastian, and lied that Lupe was dead, and Carmelo did not hide him. She later packed her luggage and secretly departed from the house after Sebastian refused to follow her advice to disappear from the vicinity of Carmelo.
Sebastian did not believe her, and Romero and Martina too suspected that her attitude towards Carmelo was strange. They all decided to go back and interrogate her, but Alas! she has eloped with her luggage from the house. This made themn to suspect that she must be involved with the evil plot of Carmelo.
When Jessika arrived home and nervous, Chucho knew immediately that the bubble has burst. The old man piled pressure on her and she buckled under, confessing that she helped Carmelo to forge the Will of Lupe, so they could disinherit Sebastian, therefore making him financially vulnerable and fall in love with her. She also confessed that Carmelo had threatened to drag her down to jail with him if she opened her mouth to reveal the truth about Lupe.
Chucho and Sebastian were shoked by the henious crime commited by Jessika. The old man gave her a dirty slap for her unpadonable act. Chucho suggested reporting Jessika and Carmelo to the police for willful alteration of Lupe's Will. Romero advised that getting Lupe out of the hiding place in the penthouse was prime. Since Lupe's being alive would automatically nullify the forged will.
So, Sebastian agreed to keep quiet on the forged Will, since it could also implicate Chucho, whose signature was mistakenly manipulated by Jessika unto that fake Will.
Lupe managed to escape from the attic but was too dizzy and weak, he colapsed on the road, and was taken to a nearby hospitalby good samaritans who found him.
A police warrant of arrest was issued against Carmelo and Marcelo for being prime suspect in the disappearance and possible kidnapping of Lupe.

Jessi-Carm: The face of a Traitor
Marcelo visited Emilia to show off his new toy (the car bought him by Carmelo). The duo went to the pool to swim and to 'wash' the car in his bed. Romero caught them in the 'act' and promised to tell Sebastian that she had gotten a new lover. Emilia was mad when Romero told her that Sebastian too was trying to settle down with Jessika. Marcelo eventually confessed to her that Lupe was alive and being held captive by Carmelo.
Jessika rushed to the penthouse, looking desperately for Carmelo. Catalina suspected the strange association between Carmelo and Jessika. She left a number for Carmelo to call her. When he did, it was Martina who picked it. Jessika lied that Carmelo wanted to seek legal advice on some matters from her.
Later when she met Carmelo discretely, she tipped him off that Sebastian was spying on him to discover if he had kidnapped Lupe. Carmelo snapped that he did not care, but later confessed to Jessika that he truly kidnapped Lupe. When Jessika got frightened and about this, and wanted to 'chicken out', he warned her that she was much his accomplice in his crime, and if she backed out, he would expose her, and both of them would go to jail. Moreover, Sebastian would know that she was the friendly traitor who imperiled him.
Having been freshly transfered to the Penthouse, Lupe overheard Carmelo quarreling with Catalina when she wanted to go to the attic of the Penthouse to search for her bracelet. Carmelo insisted that was a "NO-GO" arena for her. Then, it dawned on Lupe for the first time, that Catalina was innocent and did not know that Carmelo was hiding him in the attic. (the bracelet was eventually stolen by the criminal nurse hired by Carmelo).
Sebastian also went to seek Catalina's help in searching for Lupe and told her of his suspicion that her husband, Carmelo may have kidnapped Lupe. She promise d to help him investigate the suspicion.
Antonieta later confessed to Antonio that the reason why she gave him a special treatment was because, he was her son. (What a miserable woman). He did not believe her, he went to the priest and even his peasant mother to investigate the claim of Antonieta.

Getting Closer, and Closer, ...
At last, Romero was able to present the pictures of Lupe to the old lawyer friend of Chocho, who confirmed that that was the man Carmelo called "Pancho", whom he saw in Carmelo's flat. This was great news and joy to Sebastian, when he got the gist from Romero.
Meanwhile, the vacation of Jessika and Sebastian coincided with the honeymoon of Catalina and Carmelo. Sebastian was pleased and attracted afresh to Catalina at the hotel in Quatatesgo. Carmelo was displeased and angry that Sebastian and Catalina were still close and on talking terms.
Carmelo bought a new car for his ally and accomplice, Marcelo.
Sebastian and Martina took possession of their ranch and were introduced to Antonio, who claimed he was the new foreman for both Antonieta's ranch and Lupe's. Sebastian warned him to be wary of the unending intrigues and mischief of Antonieta.
Antonieta developed a soft spot for Antonio because she suspected that he was her son whom she paid Petra to kill. She told him that he could come and take residence in her mansion, but he refused, saying that the place of a foreman is in his hut and not in the mansion.
While Sebastian and Romero planned how to spy on and ambush Carmelo, knowing he had kidnapped Lupe, Jessika offered to 'help' them out, since she was a lawyer and would help them prosecute Carmelo if the suspicion were confirmed.
Sebastian and others maintained an espionage cover of Carmelo's apartment. They saw him arrived in the brand new car he just bought for Marcelo. As he parked the car, Catalina too came down from the car, but he asked her to remain and wait for him in the car, and not follow him into the apartment (obviously because Lupe was being hidden there).
Sebastian and Jessika went to visit Carmelo with the aim of distracting him, so that Romero and Martina could sneak-in, through the back into the apartment. Sebastian gave them the spare keys which was still in his possession. By the time Romero arrived at the back, they met the tough-looking hired thugs of Carmelo, they tried to deceive them that they were friends of Carmelo, and he was the one who gave them the spare keys to the apartment.
The thugs snatched the keys and threw them away. The nurse peeped to see who they were. Romero wondered what Carmelo was doing with a hired nurse, and hired thugs in the apartment. This reinforces their suspicions that Carmelo was keeping Lupe in captivity... so close, to Lupe bu too late to rescue him...
When Sebastian and Romero decided to call in the police to search the apartment, Jessika advised them to tread cautiously and not trigger a false alarm. She advised Sebastian to first confront Carmelo with is suspicion before bringing the police to the matter. (Jessika did this to cover her own tracks too and to play for time so that Carmelo won't be caught before she had opportunity to warn him and tip him off).
By the time Romero and Sebastian 'invaded the apartment, the nurse had injected Lupe with a sedative and he had gone back into slumber. She hid him well. After the feverish search of the place Romero and Sebastian did not discover Lupe where he was hidden by the nurse, they gave up their effort.
